SRD SASSA Status Check
SASSA status check was started during the COVID-19 pandemic for those who were losing their jobs. In May 2020, the government of South Africa aimed to start a social grant for those who are vulnerable and employed. The grant was named “Social Relief of Distress” or SRD grant. It was decided to disburse R350 to each client who will approved for this grant.
Later in April 2024, the grant payment was increased to R370. Now people can check their SRD SASSA status online to get this grant payment. Also, each client has to receive an SMS containing the payment date for the SRD grant. This date will allow them to visit the nearest SASSA office and collect the R370 cash from there.
However, the government has arranged eligibility criteria to maintain the continuous disbursement of the grant. SRD grant is only for those who are not receiving other financial support like UIF payments or NSFAS payments.

SASSA Status Check for R350 Payment Dates (December 2024)
SASSA payment dates are important for getting the grant money. If you do not have your payday SMS then you are not allowed to receive your SASSA grant cash. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has established the rule that each SASSA grant beneficiary should receive an SMS on their registered phone number to get the grant payment.
So it is compulsory to have the SASSA grant payment date’s SMS when you are going to pick the cash from SASSA officials.

What To Do Next When Your SRD COVID-19 Grant Application is Approved?
Once your status is approved for the R350, you need to prepare to receive the cash. Now there are two methods to get the money from SASSA.
According to your preference, you can choose between these two payment-receiving methods. For a bank, you need to provide your banking details and get the SRD R350 cash into your account.
Also, for the CashSend services, you do not need to have a bank account. You have to check your grant approval status and then receive the SMS with your payment date.
Visit the assigned payment center to get the grant income.
What To Do Next When Your SRD COVID-19 Grant Application is Rejected?
When your status is marked as rejected, you need to perform some mandatory steps for sure. Without these steps, you can not get the approval of this social security grant.
Here is what you need to do immediately after the rejection of the grant application.
1) Go to SRD DSD Appeal Electronic Platform
Open the SASSA DSD appeal electronic platform where you need to lodge the SRD grant appeal.
The website address is “https://srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/”. So here you need to start your appeal application procedure.
Note: The appellants should know that the eligibility criteria for COVID-19 SRD is set to R350 per month for per person in 2024 by the government.

Click on the “Lodge appeal” button to start the appeal process. This will bring you to the new page where you will be asked for your ID number and phone number.
Provide these details and send the PIN on your phone number to verify your credentials. Once you provide the PIN, you will navigate to the appeal application form.
3) Fill Out The Reconsideration Application Form
The final step is to fill out the appeal form. You will have to choose the reasons for the declined application first.
Now fill out the form with your details like first name, surname, date of birth, email address, and application ID.
Accept all the terms and conditions and submit your appeal application online.

R350 Status Check Outcomes
Don’t be confused or worried when you check your social grant status and find out different results. These results have meanings and you need to know them if you want to get grant approval.
Let’s have a look at each type of outcome and what does that mean in simple words.
Pending Status
The most common outcome is the “pending status”. This simply means that your COVID-19 grant application is under a verification process. And yes, there is no need to worry in this phase. This is a compulsory procedure and it can take up to 90 days maximum.
Approved Status
SASSA has approved your application after due diligence. Now you will receive your payment date and point or center from where you need to collect your grant cash. This approval will be valid for only 6 months. After that, you need to submit the re-application to continue to receive the grant payment.
Status Declined (Identity Verification Failed)
This is the outcome that is not so good. It means your 350 COVID-19 grant status is rejected. The reason could vary but most of the time it is “Identity Verification Failed”. It means your identity documents were not accurate or able to pass the DHA verification.
Alternative Income Source Identified
Your application does not include that you are already earning from other sources. This is a violation of the SRD grant. You need to be either unemployed or vulnerable to be the grant beneficiary.
Means Income Source Identified Undefined
This outcome is not so serious as you have forgotten to mention your income source during the application process. Now you have to resubmit the application with income source details.
Self-Exclusion Response Found
You have marked yourself as a “Voluntary Opt-out” which means you are no longer an SASSA beneficiary.
Payday Null
When you see the outcome as payday null or SASSA status check null it means your application is approved but there is no payment date for you.
SASSA Grant And Bank Details of a Client
Bank account details are very crucial for SRD R370 grant clients. However, when a client uses the bank details to get the grant, there are some issues and methods that need to be discussed here.
Banking Details Verification
This is a term that SASSA uses when a client submits the banking details. The process is about the confirmation and verification of the bank account added for the grant receiving.
Bank Details Update/Change Online Application
When a client has to add a new bank account due to any reason, this is the method to use. The client has to visit the SRD website and provide the ID number to start the bank account update progress.

You must be wondering what banks you can use for SASSA grant payments. So here is the list of SASSA-approved banks in South Africa.

To know if your grant balance is added to your account, you need to visit your ATM and use your debit or credit card to check your account balance.
SASSA Loan for Pensioners in 2024
SASSA does not offer specific loans for pensioners, but pensioners receiving the Older Persons Grant in South Africa may be eligible for certain financial services through other institutions. The grant, intended to support those aged 60 and above, provides crucial financial aid to help cover daily living expenses.
Pensioners are often targeted by loan sharks or informal lenders, which can lead to financial strain. Therefore, pensioners need to seek loans from reputable institutions, ensuring they understand the terms and repayment conditions.
SASSA Gold Debit Card for Beneficiaries
SASSA has introduced the prepaid card for the SRD grant beneficiaries. This card is called the SASSA Gold card. The purpose of this debit card is to provide the facility of withdrawing the grant cash from the ATM.
